I am a BACP Accredited Counsellor and Psychotherapist, working private practice

About Me

Below are some details you might need to know about me before making a decision to contact me.

My training

I am a BACP accredited Counsellor and Psychotherapist and I studied with the Sherwood Psychotherapy Training Institute (SPTI), qualifying in 2012. My BSc (Hons) in Counselling and Psychotherapy is validated by Coventry University. This training was rigorous and involved a lot of personal work as well as professional development.

This was the start of my journey and I hold the idea that we are always learning, and that this is important to growth and supporting others to grow.

Through my continued learning I have done extra learning on the topics of - disability, rape and sexual abuse, working relationally in therapy, mindfulness meditation, attunement, ethical practice, trauma work, gender diversity, body image difficulties, technology addiction, couples and relationship therapy, body work, and working with children and young people. I am currently engaged in a 4 year programme of deeper learning which can lead to Certification with the International Integrative Psychotherapy Association (IIPA).

I work closely with a supervisor on a regular basis to ensure that I am practising ethically and working in the interest of my clients.

My experience

I have been practicing as a therapist since 2010 and working in private practice since 2013. I have a wide range of experience working with adults, young people and teenagers. I have worked as a volunteer in various settings around Leicester City Centre and in private practice for many years.

In private practice I work with individuals and couples+ who either come to me privately or through their Employee Assistance programme or their insurance company.
I am BACP Accredited and on the BACP Register of Counsellors and Psychotherapists. Please see the Counselling and Psychotherapy page for more details.
I am experienced in working with a diverse group of clients from all different backgrounds and walks of life.

I work a lot with issues of trauma and the effects that experiences of trauma bring to our lives. Trauma can impact on every area of life and halt us in our development as an individual, as well has having big impacts on our relationships, of all kinds.

I also have experience of working with individuals who identify as LGBTQ+ or who are experience life from a diverse gender, sexuality or relationship.

I have an interest in working with body image and self esteem issues and I come to this work from a weight neutral perspective. Our bodies are amazing and carry us through all sorts of experiences throughout our lives and I believe that it's important that, for our well-being, we find ways to respect and appreciate our bodies, just as they are right now.

Where I work from

I currently work from two locations in Leicestershire - Narborough, LE19 and Thurmaston, LE4.

In Thurmaston I work from Hygge House, a newly renovated therapy clinic. Hygge House is a warm and cosy place to visit. There is a reception area where you can wait for your appointment and you are welcome to help yourself to water too.

Hygge House is within easy access of Leicester City Centre and the East of Leicester, Melton Mowbray, Nottingham and Loughborough. Parking is onstreet and usually cost free.

In Narborough, I work from home in a convenient location with cost free onstreet parking. This is near to the M1, M69 and other major road links. My home office is also near to nearby retail and business parks, and surrounding villages.

The room I work from in Narborough is comfy, warm and offers a quiet space to connect and reflect.
